Alton Towers
Situated less than half an hour’s drive from our hotel is the terrific theme park Alton Towers. Voted “Best UK Theme Park” this great location is full of exciting rides, thrilling rollercoasters, fun games and great places to eat; when staying this close it just has to be on your list of places to visit!
The park is open from the 24th March to 4th November, and with the huge number of things to see and do you are sure to thoroughly enjoy your day. Recent additions to the park include the Ice Age 4D experience and Nemesis Sub-Terra, both of which are already receiving fantastic feedback from guests to the park.

Derbyshire Dales
If you are interested in walking, then the Derbyshire Dales are the perfect place to visit. With some areas being National Nature Reserves due to their outstanding beauty and importance to flora and fauna, you can truly experience the exceptional diversity of the Peak District.
Nestled away in the Dales are some of the prettiest villages in the country, some consisting of only a few farmsteads surrounding a green, and when visiting these lovely areas it is easy to see how the image of a quaint English village may have risen from such a scene.
Chatsworth House
Set in the heart of the Peak District, the house and gardens are open to visitors from the 11th March to 23rd December, and with so much to see and do you will be spoilt for choice. The house itself is open to visitors, and you are able to explore whilst hearing of the fantastic history and stories connected with this splendid location. You are even able to view of one Europe’s most significant art collections!
If it is a nice day, why not take a stroll through the gardens? With 105 acres of giant water features, sculptures, flowers and views; you can have a lazy afternoon exploring all that the Chatsworth House gardens have to offer.
For the children there is a farmyard area that is home to all kinds of animals, from cuddly guinea pigs through to milking cows; and there are even have milking demonstrations every day until the end of October. Also situated in the farmyard area is a great adventure playground and a brand new climbing forest!
Carsington Water
If you are interested in water based activities, then Carsington Water is only a short distance away. The centre is a Royal Yachting Association recognised training centre that also provides British Canoe Union courses; and in addition to this there is also the opportunity for you to enjoy sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and power boating!
If the water isn’t your cup of tea, then the Carsington Sports and Leisure centre will be able to provide you with mountain biking, climbing and fishing activities.
Peak District
There is so much to see and do when visiting the Peak District that you will be spoilt for choice. The spectacular landscape is home to a huge variety of wildlife, and you can spend hours or even days just wandering the Dales and woods of this green and pleasant land.

Shopping in Derby
With a huge selection of shops and stalls in Derby, you will be spoilt for choice! When visiting the city, you can either explore the boutiques of the traditional Cathedral Quarter, browse the indoor shopping malls at Westfield Derby and St Peter’s Quarter or visit one of Derby’s two indoor markets.
The Cathedral Quarter is Derby’s most historic area, allowing you the opportunity to enjoy visiting a diverse and inspiring area whilst shopping or relaxing in one of the many cafes.
The indoor market at Westfield Derby is home to over 190 stores, dozens of cafes and restaurants (including an Eat Central area) and the fantastic Cinema de Lux. Rated as the “Top Shopping Destination in the East Midlands”, you can easily see why when you visit this magnificent mall.
St Peter’s Quarter offers shopping for everyone, with many well known names available to visit, as well as many independent retailers across the area. With many traditional High Street stores to see, you may want to put aside some time to explore!
Whether you’re after fresh fruit, veg, meat or clothes; Derby’s bustling marketplaces are the perfect place to visit. The Eagle Market and Market Hall are alive with the sound of stall holders and customers alike, and you are able to browse a great selection of fresh food, beautiful jewellery and even the stall of a traditional tobacconist!
